Go Green Day raised £8,000 for Springhill Hospice

Date published: 11 June 2015

The Springhill Hospice Go Green Day has raise £8,000, with the total still growing.

Yew Court at Hamer raised £2,000. Springy made a special visit there to thank all participants for their incredible efforts on the day and made a small presentation to tell all Yew Court residents how their fundraising will help aid Springhill Hospice.

To mark the occasion Springy had photos taken with residents and staff at Yew Court with the large cheque.

The pupils at Healey Primary School raised £900 by wearing all green clothing, green cake sales and handing out hospice change boxes for each pupil to take home.

Lowerplace Primary School and Bury Grammar School both added £500 to the pot.

Elaine McConnell, Springhill Hospice Regular Giving Coordinator, said: “This is the second year for our Go Green for Springhill Hospice campaign and, once again, Rochdale has come out in force.

"Without the money raised on days like this, we would not be able to offer as many services to the community as we do, all of which are free of charge.

"Go Green Day gives everyone in the borough a fabulous opportunity to give a little back, but in so many cases people have given an awful lot back, amazing. Thank you.”

Ken Davies MBE, a Springhill Hospice trustee, added: “When I heard Yew Court wanted to get involved I was really pleased. We have had a great relationship with them over the past few years and so I was thrilled to accompany the fundraising staff on the day.”
