Date published: 11 June 2015

Communic8te, a charity that supports the deaf and hearing impaired people in Bury and Rochdale, has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK to recognise their outstanding work in their communities.

Denise Blagg, from Littleborough, Volunteer Coordinator and David Blagg from Communic8te attended a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace where they met the Queen and other winners of this year’s award.

Communic8te will receive the award from the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester later this summer.

The charity provides social activities such as Wednesday social, Saturday social, LBGTQ group, hearing aid user social group and Tinnitus support group.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service was created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and winners are announced each year on 2 June – the anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.
