TV chef Rachel Khoo joins Rochdale Feel Good Festival line-up

Date published: 09 June 2015

Popular TV chef and best-selling author Rachel Khoo has been added to this year’s Rochdale Feel Good Festival menu.

The foodie favourite, best known for her acclaimed ‘Little Paris Kitchen’ BBC television series, will be taking part in live food demonstrations on Saturday 5 September.

Rachel’s unconventional food background helped formulate her unique culinary touch, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the renowned Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London, but her passion for pâtisserie lured her to Paris, where she studied at Le Cordon Bleu.

Her first television series ‘The Little Paris Kitchen’ in which she rustles up chic French meals received great critical acclaim and the accompanying book was a number one bestseller.

Her next cookbook, ‘My Little French Kitchen’, was another hit and she starred in two more BBC series; ‘Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook: London’ and ‘Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook: Cosmopolitan Cook.’

This year she returned to our screens for ‘A Cook Abroad: Rachel Khoo's Malaysia’ where she visited the home of her extended family and got to explore the cuisine of the country.

She is a popular guest on cooking shows including Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ and her latest book ‘Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook’ was published this year.

Rachel said she is looking forward to her first visit to Rochdale: “I know the Feel Good Festival has been a popular family festival for many years and has a great reputation for good food as well as music. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Councillor Janet Emsley Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said: “Following her Little Paris Kitchen series Rachel has become a global cooking sensation, and she’s a fabulous addition to our chef line up this year. I know she will have many fans looking forward to her shows here in Rochdale.”

Rachel Khoo will be demonstrating her cooking skills in the Celebrity Kitchen on Saturday 5 September, alongside the previously announced chef Kevin Woodford.

Pop band The South and pop/rockers Toploader are already on the bill for the main music stage with more acts to be announced this month.

Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, for its eighth year, with organisers promising another incredible showcase of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues a main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel and a smaller outdoor stage. Celebrity chefs will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the event, which will also include the popular food market.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council together with sponsorship from local businesses.
