College filled with lizards, snakes and stick insects
Date published: 09 June 2015
Over 1,200 people visited Hopwood Hall College this weekend as the College held its first Animal Fun Day and raised over £1,300 for Blue Cross.
The event, held in association with Blue Cross, saw visitors get up close and personal with numerous animals, including the College’s snakes, lizards, meerkat and hens.
As well as meeting the animals, visitors were also treated to a dog show, face painting and a bouncy castle. There were also stalls selling cakes and the opportunity to purchase plants from the College’s horticulture department.
Chris Lusby, Animal Care Technician at Hopwood Hall College said: "The day was better than we could ever have hoped for. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. There was so much for everyone to do and join in with, we had everything from hen racing to face painting and everyone loved it.
"We were also delighted that we were able to raise such a huge amount of money for the Blue Cross. It was amazing and we are definitely going to look to make this an annual event. We're now planning our Summer Fun Day for later this month and we can't wait."
