Students help charity fix it on TV

Date published: 09 June 2015

Hopwood Hall College students have appeared on TV as part of a news piece about the charity Fixers.

Fixers helps young people raise awareness of issues that matter to them and regularly appear on ITV Granada News talking about their latest projects.

This month the charity worked with a group from Rochdale to produce a film about mental health issues. Keen to hear what students would think of the film, the charity contacted Hopwood Hall College and asked if they would like to take part.

As a result 19 students, who are studying a range of subjects at the College, from health and social care to media and game design, were filmed by ITV as they watched the film and gave their feedback.

The film won praise from the students who commented that it was a really powerful video about an important subject. They also spoke of the necessity of being able to speak to people about any issues they are facing so that they can get the right help.

The programme aired on ITV Granada News between 6-6.30pm on Friday 5 June.
