Hopwood Summer Bazaar

Date published: 07 June 2015

In spite of a windy and slightly rainy afternoon, the families of Heywood came together at the Hopwood Summer Bazaar yesterday afternoon (Saturday 6 June).

Held on Hopwood Park Recreation Ground, children and families enjoyed an afternoon of music, fancy dress, stalls, food and games.

Organiser Sandra Trickett, Chairwoman of Friends of Hopwood Park, said: “We did a winter market last year and people really liked it so we decided to do something similar but in summer. It has all come about due to public demand really.”

Local councillors also attended the event as well as Heywood and Middleton MP Liz McInnes, who praised Sandra for her work surrounding Hopwood Park.

Money raised from the event will go back to benefitting the people of Heywood.

“All money raised from the event will go to help with park projects. We are currently raising money to turn the bus station into a café. At our last event like this we raised about £2,000 so if we could do the same here then that would be great,” said Sandra.
