Police News – Rochdale East

Inspector Pawson said this week: “Our priorities remain in reducing anti-social behaviour across all communities especially with the recent weather changing for the better. With this in mind, Hare Hill Park is still a location in which we are monitoring over the weekend.

"Our specialist team within the public sector reform are still working hard by offering reassurance and assistance to our domestic abuse victims, which we prioritise highly. The dedicated agencies we work with are offering victims the most suitable service to them and their family ensuring the best possible support.

"The team and I are still focusing on reducing the amount of burglaries which has had a positive effect this week with a reduction on the amount of break-ins. Nevertheless we are asking residents to still remain vigilant especially as we’ve noticed an increase of items been taken from vehicles. A repeating factor is vehicles are been left unlocked and unattended or items are been left on show, so we are asking that you always lock your vehicle even if you are just nipping into your house as well as removing all items from your vehicle or moving them out of sight, e.g. into your glove compartment.”

"Our surveys are finally complete. This is a massive help to us finding out what we do best and what we can work on to improve local neighbourhoods. We are all about changing for the better and thanks to Rochdale East we can.

"On Saturday 30 May it was the annual ‘Dragon Boat Race’ which was a very successful day for Rochdale Police Station by coming sixth, raising approximately £550 and not sinking in the lake, although this was very close to happening.

"We had officers, PCSOs and Constable Cub make an appearance and provide crime prevention advice as well as getting the children involved in dressing up as a police officer and sitting in the police car.

"This week, (June 1-7) is National Volunteer’s week – an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK.

"'Citizens in Policing' volunteers are a significant part of our policing family. There are more than 1,200 special constables, police support volunteers and volunteer police cadets currently supporting the Force, making a huge difference to people’s lives. Many give up their time for the benefit of their local community, wanting to make a difference and improve their local area. Their time helps the Force to forge stronger links with the communities we serve. The contribution that these individuals make should never be underestimated.

"We would like to say thank you to the hundreds of individuals who give up their time to help us to serve the people of Greater Manchester and especially to those 10 Special Constables of Rochdale East Neighbourhood Policing Team.

"Also this week we are celebrating 100 years of women in policing. Thank you to all the ladies out there that make a difference and to the 33 women of Rochdale East Neighbourhood Policing Team who make a real difference every day."
