The ‘Hopwood Buccaneers’ at the Dragon Boat Race
Hopwood Hall College staff raised £400 for Springhill Hospice as part of the Rochdale Round Table Dragon Boat Race.
The 25 members of staff, who named themselves the ‘Hopwood Buccaneers’ crammed into their boat to compete alongside hundreds of other participants at the weekend.
The teams spent the day racing across Hollingworth Lake and while they all reported having a great time, they were also taking part for an important cause.
Tom Benham, Hopwood Hall College’s IT Manager, who was the team captain for the day, said: “Everyone really enjoyed taking part in the boat race. It was great fun and to be able to help raise money for Springhill Hospice was brilliant. We definitely want to take part again next year.”
