Sir John Moores’ Award
Jack Woodall, a Year 11 student, has won the Sir John Moores’ Award for personal progress in Enterprise for the North West region.
He is the second student from Oulder Hill to achieve this award. Lady Grantchester, the daughter of Sir John Moores, set up the fund in memory of her father to recognise the Special Achievements of Team Programme students.
This award is presented on an annual basis in each English region and Wales to the Team Programme student who has made the most progress and shown the most improvement through their participation in the programme.
As winner of the award, Jack will receive a cheque for £100 and a certificate, which will be presented at the regional final. Well done Jack!
GCSE exams
GCSE exams are well underway, and students have been working hard in the run up to the exams, with some attending revision classes during the school holidays. Students in all year groups are currently preparing for the Internal Exam week, commencing on Monday 15 June. Please encourage your child(ren) to prepare thoroughly for these exams, as they are good practice for future GCSE examinations.
‘Not Strictly Eurovision’
On Thursday 11 June, we are proud to be hosting our annual ‘Not Strictly Eurovision’ event, where students from some of our local primary schools will be taking part in a music and language spectacular. There will also be performances from last year’s winners and runners-up.
Trip to the Upper Irwell Valley
The Geography Department has organised a trip to the Upper Irwell Valley on Friday 12 June for Year 9 students taking Geography as one of their GCSE Options. The aim of the trip is to study the physical and human features of a river. We hope the students have an interesting and rewarding day!
