Tom Thornton Trust Fund sponsored slim club
A small group of fundraisers for the Tom Thornton Trust, attended 'weigh in' classes every week at Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club.
From the end of January 2015 to the end of May, the group met to lose weight and raise funds to go towards the Tom Thornton Trust Fund; together as a group they lost over 60lbs of weight.
One member of the group Phil Hargreaves, asked for sponsorship to help his drive to lose weight and lost a staggering 32 lbs of weight.
Phil said: “I am literally a shadow of the man I used to be.”
The group offered each other support and motivation; along with expert advice from guest speakers; sharing recipes, ideas and stories to aid in the weight loss.
With the sponsorship and the class 'donations' the overall total raised was £2,634.
A spokespersons aid: "Thanks go to everyone who attended and everyone who sponsored Phil’s weight loss."
The Tom Thornton Trust Fund was set up following Tom’s tragic death back in January, and thousands have been raised to support Chantelle, Tom’s wife and Maxwell, his son.
