Buckley Hall inmates have competed in a triathlon and a superstar’s competition to raise funds for Springhill Hospice. Their fellow prisoner’s sponsored them and a raffle was held with prizes being donated by staff from all departments in the prison.
Tony Hill, HMP Buckley Hall said: “After a fantastic effort we raised in excess of £800.00. Nearly everyone has been affected by certain cancers and we intend to raise more funds for Springhill in the future”.
Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill Hospice said: "Both Elaine and I were delighted to meet everyone at Buckley Hall, and considering the relatively small amount of money the lads have to donate, were absolutely astonished by the amount of money they raised for the Hospice.
“Everyone involved put in a great deal of time and effort to raise money for Springhill, giving something back to the community. We are so grateful and are really looking forward to seeing what challenges they come up with next."
