Neigh to Cancer, a Dressage Day in aid of Cancer Research UK, has raised £2,000.80 with money still coming in.

Organised by Littleborough fundraisers Kath and Andy O’Donnell 78 riders came together for the event held at Cockshot Dressage in Warrington.

Speaking about the event, Kath said: “There was a special atmosphere in the air during the day, like everyone was together against cancer, even though they were competing against each other.

“It was an amazing day. The amount of riders that took part really shows the true spirit of the day. Many of them wore pink and really brought awareness of Cancer Research UK to the event. Everyone was smiling and applauding us all.”

The event was the second consecutive win for the Lanehead Loonies.

The winning team consisted of:

• Emma Tyler (Maesmynach Trysor)

Jaime Sanderson from the Lanehead Loonies said: “We were all so chuffed to win. We have lots of special memories regarding family members and losses due to cancer.”

The event was sponsored by PDS Door Solutions of Littleborough with Simon Constables Equine Veterinary sponsoring the teams involved.

Kath added: “Everyone worked extremely hard and we are extremely grateful to Nikki Leyton (the host), Sharon Stanley (a massive influence to this event and photographer), Lesley Gee (from PDS), Heidie Wainwright, Katie Burleigh, Wendy McCormick, Lesley Slutter, Darcas Lever and Rebecca McNair.”
