VE Day marked with two minute’s silence in Heywood
Veterans from Rochdale and Heywood gathered at the cenotaph in both towns to mark VE day on Friday (8 May).
During the afternoon, services were held, wreaths were laid and a two minute silence was observed.
In Rochdale, the count for the local election was stopped as MP Simon Danczuk and local councillors made their way outside to join veterans who had gathered to pay their respects.
In Heywood, a service was led by Father Paul Daly which saw local councillors and veterans come together to mark the occasion.
