Springhill Hospice will week

Date published: 12 May 2015

Springhill Hospice is providing solicitors with an opportunity to reach more of the local community and potentially meet new customers with their new event, 'Make a Will Week'.

Will week takes place between Monday 18 May and Friday 22 May and solicitors involved are asked to waive their normal fee to write a standard will and in return give a provided envelope to their client to make a donation to Springhill Hospice.

Supporting solicitors will week include:

  • AST Hampsons
  • GLP Solicitors
  • Hartley Thomas and Wright
  • Lancashire Law
  • Temperley Taylor

Louise Salisbury, from AST Hampsons, said: “Primarily we wanted to get involved to support Springhill Hospice. They are a very worthwhile charity and it is a good way to help them raise money. Also, it is a good way to encourage people to make a will. It is quite staggering the number of adults out there who don’t have a will and if you don’t have one, then your estate won’t go where you want it, so it is a good opportunity to encourage people to actually make a will.

“If people want to use AST Hampsons then they should make an appointment to come and see us or they can ring up and have an initial chat before making an appointment.”

Roger Addington, from Hartley Thomas and Wright, said: “We were approached by the Hospice to get involved and we have done something similar to this before with the Christie, so we were asked to get involved on a similar basis to that.

“If people want to come to us, they should make an appointment for that week as this only applies to instruction given during that specific week.”

Nicola Finbow, from Temperley Taylor, whose offices in Heywood and Middleton and taking part in will week, said: “We like to do something for charity as often as we can and we have taken part in will week for The Christie before so when the Hospice approached us I knew it was something we should do. Everyone knows someone who has been affected by the Hospice and they are a local, good cause.

“If people want to use Temperley Taylor during that week, it is vital that they make an appointment to see us.”

Alison McGuigan, Lancashire Law, said: “We decided to take part as we understand how much Springhill Hospice replies on donations and this was a nice way of us to help Springhill using our skills. We do Will Aid, but it is even better for us to support a local charity.”
