Littleborough fundraisers Kath and Andy O’Donnell have been thanked for all of their fundraising efforts for Cancer Research UK at a special reception.

Kath and Andy have been fundraising for Cancer Research UK for a number of years and have raised over £50,000 and  to say thank you, the team at Cancer Research UK invited them to London for a special luncheon.

Speaking about the event, Kath said: “It was amazing. It was such a beautiful day. We had such a lovely time.”

Kath and Andy were invited to the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel where they sat down for lunch with Frances Milner, Simon O’Leary and other senior members of the Cancer Research UK team.

Kath added: “We didn’t start doing the fundraising to get the recognition for it. It isn’t about us.”

Kath and Andy started fundraising after Andy was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Following treatment, the couple wanted to raise money as a thank you.

“When we got into the lunch, the people from Cancer Research UK were telling us that they had heard all about us and that they couldn’t wait to meet us based on what they had heard,” added Kath.

Kath and Andy hope to have raised in excess of £60,000 for Cancer Research UK by the end of the year.
