Beth Land and Alex Willis, Lifeguards at Oulder Hill Leisure Complex, will take part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday to raise money for local charity Springhill Hospice.
The pair have been training for the last few months in preparation for Europe's biggest 10K running event, which has seen more than a quarter of a million enthusiastic runners take to the streets of Manchester since the run was established in 2003.
The Great Manchester Run has raised over £22 million for charity and is part of an elite group of running events with the IAAF Gold Label.
Springhill Hospice, which opened in 1989, provides specialist palliative care for people with life-limiting illness throughout Rochdale and surrounding areas.
The event will be broadcast live on BBC 2, between 11.00 and 13.00 on Sunday 10 May.
