Opinion Poll: McInnes (Labour) and Bickley (UKIP) neck and neck in Heywood and Middleton

Date published: 06 May 2015

With the General Election taking place tomorrow (Thursday 7 May), Rochdale Online hit the streets again this afternoon (Wednesday 6 May) to ask the residents of Heywood and Middleton constituency (which includes Bamford, Castleton and Norden) if they intend to vote and if so who they intend to vote for.

Whilst Labour's Liz McInnes has maintained a lead she has a fight on her hands to retain her seat as UKIP candidate John Bickley is now in a very close second place having increased his share since the Rochdale Online poll on 13 April. The Conservative candidate, Iain Gartside, remains in third place.

As in the poll last month, there are still a significant number of voters undecided, and a number who preferred not to say who they will vote for. It is therefore far too close to call who will win the election, especially as the national Tory press is urging Conservative voters in Heywood and Middleton to vote tactically and switch to UKIP.
