Man charged with shooting

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting in Rochdale after a man suffered 20 gunshot wounds in an incident in April this year.
The man suffered wounds to his back, legs and buttocks in the shooting on Beal Crescent, off Albert Royd's Street.
Jamie Thomas Carter of Pelshore Road, Middleton, has been charged with a Section 18 assault, possession of a shotgun, possession of ammunition, possession of a knife, possession of a prohibited weapon, and the possession of a shotgun with the intent to cause fear.
Carter appeared before magistrates at Rochdale Magistrates Court today (Friday 27 June ) where he was remanded in custody until Tuesday 9 September 2008.
Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, and anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4644 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
