Dennis Fenton jailed for five years for indecent assault

Date published: 05 May 2015

Dennis Fenton has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to indecent assault.

Fenton (27/09/1949) of Hartsop Drive, Middleton was sentenced today, Tuesday 5 May 2015, at Minshull Street Crown Court.

Between 1/1/86 and 31/12/87 Fenton babysat for a girl who was 14-years-old at the time, in the Altrincham area.

Over that period of time he indecently assaulted her on seven occasions.

Detective Constable Nicola Graham said: “Fenton not only betrayed the trust of the parents of the victim but he betrayed the trust of someone he should have been making sure was safe.

He took advantage of a young girl who has lived with what happened to her for many years.

“Thankfully she took the very brave step of contacting police so we could launch an investigation and ensure Fenton paid for his crimes.

“This case highlights no matter how long ago the offence took place and when the report is made, those responsible for spreading misery will be caught and brought to justice.”
