Littleborough Beer Festival

Date published: 03 May 2015

Littleborough Sports Club has been celebrating all things beer this weekend (Friday 1 May – Sunday 3 May) by holding the first Littleborough Beer Festival.

Located on Rakewood Road, the club decided to hold the festival to help raise funds for a much-needed new clubhouse.

Organiser James Bex said: “Really we need a new clubhouse but the roof is something that needs focusing on so we are in the process of raising money for that.

"We wanted to bring back the beer festival to Littleborough because they are popular events and one hasn’t been held for about 18 years.

”We hope to raise about £5,000 from the weekend but altogether we need at least £50,000.”

During the three days, those in attendance have been able to sample 22 ales from around the U.K, with the club receiving help from Marston’s brewery.

Starting on Friday, guests were treated to the European Rugby Challenge Cup Final and entertainment from The Donaghys.

Saturday saw the festival play host to the Littleborough Lakeside Cricket 2nd XI game, as well as a Rugby League charity game and more European rugby. The Fun Junkies provided entertainment.

Sunday, children had the chance to get involved with face painting on site.

James added: “It has gone really well and we are really pleased with how it has all gone.”

Organisers are now hoping to make the festival an annual event.

“We are hoping that we can do it again and hopefully make it a bank holiday weekend annual event,” added James.
