Date published: 01 May 2015

The fifth Doggy Dash for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK saw around 200 people and 125 dogs get together and raise funds for charity.

Held at Hollingworth Lake on Sunday 26 April, the event was won by Sam Butterworth for the second year in a row.

Organiser Kath O’Donnell said: “There was lots of people with their dogs who came to do the event and raise money for Cancer Research UK.”

Organisers are not yet sure of a grand total but are hoping to have raised an amount in the thousands.

Kath added: “We still have money coming in and we won’t have a grand total for a few weeks yet but we are really hoping to have hit the thousands.”

For taking part in the event, each participant received a goody bag which included treats and goodies from Royal Canine, Pets Meds, Harrington’s, Fish4Dogs, Kong, Burns and Beeston Animal Suppliers.

Kath added: “We need to thank Ad Manum Consultants, Hird and Partners Veterinary Practice, Gilbertson and Page Ltd, Buffwear, Harness Co, Horsewear, Dog Games ltd, Take the Lead, Butchers, Sunshine Snacks and Cleland Curtains for their support of the event.

“I also want to thank the staff at Hollingworth Lake for letting us use the premises.”
