PE News
Congratulations to the Year 11 Rounders team who are through to the Catholic Cup Rounders final.
The year 7 boys dodgeball team won their very first tournament and go forwards to represent Rochdale.
Unfortunately the year 8 boys football team lost 1-0 to Kingsway Park in the semi- final of the cup last week in a very close game. However, bouncing back from that they beat Wardle 2-0 on Monday and beat Siddal Moor 8-2 last night to win the league plate competition.
Well done to the Year 10 boys who are in the Rochdale Schools Football Cup Final on Thursday after a nail-biting penalties competition against Cardinal Langley. The year 10 Rugby team are also in the final of the cup at Spotland next Saturday against Matthew Moss.
Finally, the Year 9 football girls participated in the 'Female Football Development' tournament yesterday in Preston. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon despite the weather! Congratulations to Bene Lawal Year 9 who was awarded Player of the Tournament.
Geography Field Trip
The Geography department held a residential revision weekend at The Boarsehurst Centre in Greenfield. It consisted if intense revision followed by some practical work using maps at Dovestones reservoir on Saturday afternoon. 19 pupils were involved. They were all fantastic and worked really hard.
Music
Congratulations to the following Music students in their graded examination results this half term:
Liam Gartland (Y11) achieved a Distinction in his Grade 6 Vocal exam,
Joel Thetford (Y11) achieved a Merit in his Grade 6 Vocal exam,
Holly Peel (Y10) passed her Grade 4 Clarinet exam,
And Missy Lord passed her Grade 3 Clarinet exam.
Tots and Teens programme
On Friday the Year 10 students involved in the Tots and Teens programme had their first nursery placement visits in Holy family. The students are to become positive role models for the youngsters as part of the programme which aims to encourage a more positive attitude to school life. All those involved enjoyed the visit and were very pleased with the pictures that the children drew of them!
In addition, six key stage 3 students have started a 12 week ‘Skills for Working Life’ course arranged by Groundwork Trust, the course aims to build teamwork and communication skills through a community project. We look forward to hearing more about their achievements!
