Roadworks currently taking place along Dale Street, Milnrow are “necessary,” says Councillor Martin Rodgers.
The roadworks, which started on 29 March, have been taking place between 8am and 3:30pm and have been causing traffic delays.
Councillor Rodgers said: “These are necessary repairs to the gas main which will move towards the motorway in the next few weeks. The repairs are necessary because there had been a smell of gas in the area, but everything was safe.
“This is a necessary precaution.”
The work has seen temporary signals erected on Dale Street at its junction with Kiln Lane, to facilitate the safe replacement of a frame and cover.
