Adopt a Canal Group volunteer day in Littleborough

Date published: 14 April 2015

The Canal & River Trust Littleborough Adopt a Canal Group held a volunteer day on Sunday (12 April).

Despite the weather, the group had 600 bushes such as maple, wild cherry and hawthorn to plant. They also litter picked and disposed of doggy bags, which were hidden in the wall, or left by the tow path that they discovered.

In total, nine volunteers attended to brave the weather at 10am, but unfortunately, due to the weather volunteers had to stop at 12.30pm after planting 300 bush plants near Bridge 45 Windy Bank and Lock 46.

Bob Furnell, organiser for the Littleborough Adopt a Canal Group, said: “I would like to thank everyone for their determination and effort on Sunday.”

There are currently 41 members of the group.
