Dale-Con secures a Red Dwarf Star three years running

Date published: 13 April 2015

After bringing ‘Lister’ and ‘Cat’ to Rochdale in recent years, the Dale-Con team has secured another of the cast from Red Dwarf for the third of the successful Sci-Fi conventions. Hattie Hayridge, who is famed for her part as ‘Holly’ the spaceship’s computer through series three, four and five joins a host of other sci-fi actors headed up by Lord Vader himself, Dave Prowse MBE.

Hattie is also a popular award-winning stand-up comic, and performs live all over Britain and around the world. Apart from her numerous stand-up appearances on television and radio, she has received worldwide recognition for her part as Holly the computer in the hugely successful BBC comedy series, Red Dwarf and most recently starred as Lizzie Gillespie in BBC 1's Jonathan Creek. Her television appearances include stand-up shows from Friday Night Live to Saturday Live, panel games from Celebrity Squares to Have I Got News For You, plus documentaries including Back To Bedlam with Jo Brand.

Event organiser, Martin Ballard, said: “To secure Hattie for the event was one of my main goals. I’ve been like a kid at Christmas every time I looked at my line-up and saw Dave Prowse’s name on it, but a lot of people were asking who was coming from Red Dwarf.

“This year’s event is going to be huge, we’ve nearly 30 vehicles booked in so far with many of the transformer vehicles, a Delorean from Back to the Future and in amongst a host of American police cars we have an ambulance from the 911 disaster which carries quite a story with it.”
