Name the Donkey Foal Competition

Date published: 11 April 2015

Children are invited to choose a name in Whittle Fold Smallholding, Birch 'Name the Donkey Foal' competition, to raise funds for the Mayor of Rochdale’s Charity appeal.

The new donkey is female and was born at 11.22pm on Friday 3 April. She is predominantly light brown in colour with a white muzzle and a distinctive black cross on her back.

Her dad, Mr Pickles and her mum, Poppy, took part in the Christmas Nativity Procession, carrying Mary in the Heywood Light Switch-on.

She belongs to the Mayor, Councillor Carol Wardle, and her husband, and lives on their farm.

The Mayor will choose a winning name out of all entries, and the winner will be invited to meet the baby donkey. They will also be able to have their photograph taken with the foal and be presented with a box of chocolates.

If you wish to name the baby donkey, please send your chosen name and contact details, along with £2 for the competition entry fee, which should be made payable to 'The Mayor of Rochdale’s Charity' and sent to the Mayoral Secretary:

Rochdale Town Hall

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 6 May 2015.
