SAKS making time for tea

Date published: 11 April 2015

SAKS Middleton swapped their hair and beauty kits for tea and cake to raise money for charity.

They raised £200 from a bake sale at Lancashire Health and Racquet Club in Middleton for their network charity, The Eve Appeal, and are aiming to raise £1,000 this year.

The fundraising was part of their 'Make Time for Tea' campaign, raising funds and awareness throughout March for ovarian cancer.

SAKS Middleton salon owner Kelly Watts said: “We’re thrilled to partner with The Eve Appeal for the next two years. At SAKS we’re all about women and our team is geared up to join in raising money to fund research and to empower women with the knowledge that could save lives.”

The Eve Appeal is the only national charity dedicated to raising funds for research into, and awareness of gynaecological cancers such as Womb, Cervical, Ovarian, Vaginal and Vulvar.

Currently one in 55 women are diagnosed with one of these cancers every day, and it is SAKS Middleton’s desire to raise awareness of a cause which resonates with all women, yet is rarely discussed or known about.

SAKS aims to raise a whopping £100,000 over the next two years for their worthwhile cause within salons across the UK, competing with each other in a variety of exciting fundraising events and sporting challenges. Next year they are planning to participate in a big international group trek for the charity.

At SAKS Middleton, they are also planning a car wash in the summer and a ladies dinner evening later in the year.

If you wish to donate to their cause, please text SAKS15 and your donation (for example £2, £5, £10) to 70070.
