Man dies after being hit by a train at Littleborough

Date published: 10 April 2015

A man has died after being hit by a train at Littleborough.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Littleborough Railway Station at around 6.25am on Friday 10 April, following reports of a person under a train.

"Colleagues from Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service also attended but a man, believed to have been 28 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is being treated as non-suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

All lines are now open and trains are able to run between Manchester Victoria and Hebden Bridge but they may be delayed by up to 20 minutes while services return to normal (8.50am Friday 10 April).

These delays are expected to continue until approximately 10:15am.

Buses will continue to supplement trains between Rochdale and Hebden Bridge.
