Healey Dell Heritage Centre and Tea Rooms celebrate second anniversary

Date published: 07 April 2015

The Healey Dell Heritage Centre and Tea Rooms celebrated their second anniversary with a variety of events and entertainment.

Janice Percy from the Centre said: “It was absolutely fantastic and it has been a really fabulous weekend.”

During the celebrations, which took place on Friday (3 April) and Monday (6 April), certificates were presented to the volunteers at the centre in recognition of their work and support.

Janice added: “Every volunteer that is with us got a certificate from us as a way to say thank you to them in relation to all of the hard work that they do. Simon Danczuk presented the certificates to them and we were all very grateful that he came along to do that.”

Councillor Andrew Neilson was also in attendance at the event and spoke to each volunteer individually.

Now that the celebrations are complete, Janice and the team have a number of plans in place to continue the success of the centre.

“We have so many plans,” said Janice. “One of the things at the top of our list is to get the back area sorted and fenced off so it is safe for visitors. The fence that we currently have is falling apart so we would like that fixed, so we can then use the space. We would like to run art classes and things in that area but it needs to be made safe first, so that is one of our top priorities.

“We are also looking at extending our opening times to include Thursday. We are currently open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

Janice is also currently recruiting for more volunteers.

She added: “Two to three of our volunteers have recently secured paid employment so that is good news, but it means that we are on the hunt for more volunteers.”

Anyone interested in volunteering at the centre can contact Janice on 07411 234698.
