Planning permission refused for teaching centre and place of worship
Date published: 03 April 2015
An application to turn a residential address at 256 Ashfield Road in Rochdale into a teaching centre and place of worship has been refused.
Rochdale Licensing and Regulatory Committee refused permission due to concerns around safeguarding, raised by Greater Manchester Police, highway safety and the noise that would be generated by an increased use of the building in a residential area.
Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment, said: “While we absolutely appreciate the value that a learning centre such as this may bring to the community, there have been significant planning concerns raised by this application, including with regards to safeguarding. It was considered that these concerns carried sufficient weight and a refusal of planning permission was justified on all these planning grounds.”
