Littleborough U3A lunch at Bella Vista

Date published: 31 March 2015

Littleborough University of the Third Age had a social lunch at Bella Vista on Sunday (29 March).

Lis Kay, treasurer of U3A said: “It was a lovely, friendly event and social occasion we’re hoping to run once a month at various places. 12 members attended from different groups for a three-course meal and a coffee, to meet and make friends.

"We’re planning for the next occasion to be at the end of April. It was a very happy occasion, one to be repeated, and a good excuse for a meal out.”

Janice Bray, chairwoman of U3A, said: “We had an enjoyable lunch and afternoon. We all sat together at a big table and had a wonderful time together.

“U3A has gone from strength to strength. We’re surprised at how much the group has blossomed. We have 18 groups so far, and there may be new groups to come. The recent groups that have just begun are ukulele and astronomy.

“We have monthly meetings in the Coach House in Littleborough where members can come together whilst we have a speaker, for coffee and biscuits, and to sign up for outings of the upcoming month.”

Launched last year, Littleborough U3A was set up for retired and semi-retired people to unite and explore together. The group takes part in opportunities which enhance their lives through learning and discovering.
