Tributes for Kris Kaushal

Kris Kaushal died on Monday 23 March. A former president of The Rotary Club of Heywood, a special tribute was made for him at the President’s Ball on Saturday (28 March).
Mr Kaushal worked as an eye surgeon in the early 1990s. He devoted some time in India performing cataracts operations on over 200 people, saving them from the possibility of going blind.
Harry Openshaw, former Rotary Club president from 1982 to 1983, said: “One of the services he rendered was when he whole-heartedly worked on an eye camp for two weeks in India, in the Calcutta area.
“He lived in Bamford for many years.
"He was very keen on motor cars. He gave talks based on cars and their different types.”
Edwin Partridge, the current Rotary Club president, said “Kris was a very skilled and well-respected eye surgeon.
“In 2005, he was given the highest accolade possible for a Rotarian when he was made a Paul Harris Fellow.
“Our thoughts are with Kris’ family and friends. He will be missed by all of us.”
Mr Kaushal was president from 1985 to 1986, five years after joining in March 1980.
His funeral will be held on Thursday 2 April at 3pm at Rochdale Crematorium.
