St Aidan's Church, Sudden celebrated its 100th Anniversary on Sunday 22 March, with a special centenary service conducted by the Bishop of Manchester, the Right Reverend David Walker and assisted by the Vicar, the Reverend Michael Read.
On a day to remember, the church was full and the singing was led by the church choir with organist, Elizabeth Milne MBE.
In his sermon, the Bishop illustrated ways of showing a Christian presence and how going forward with deeds as well as words will indicate Christian beliefs to a wider community into the next 100 years.
During the service, the Sunday school children entered wearing bishop's hats, which they had made to mark Bishop David's visit. Bishop David joked that he'd "never seen so many bishops together before”.
After the service, refreshments, including a centenary cake in the form of St. Aidan's Church, specially made by parishioner, Mrs Dorothy Standring, were available in the church hall.
A spokesperson for St Aidan’s Church said: “A wonderful day was enjoyed by all present in proudly celebrating the church's centenary.”
