REAG concerned over the amount of dumped litter and rubbish
Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) set up small teams and cleaned Mere Street, Tweedale Street, Devon Street, Milkstone Road, William Street, Sussex Street, Essex Street, Henry Street and Ann Street on Saturday (14 March).
Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary, said: “REAG members are concerned over the amount of litter and rubbish dumped on the open spaces in the area.
“Open spaces near Asia Restaurant and the old Test Centre on Drake Street are filled with litter and do not present a positive image of the area. These should be kept clean and those responsible for causing litter should be fined.
“Bins provided for local businesses are small and far less than their needs, some small bins attached to the poles are too small to cope with the amount of litter.”
