Rochdale student film nominated for national award

'Paul's Story', starring Paul Diamond, a pupil at Redwood Secondary School who has cerebral palsy, has been nominated for a national Into Film award.

Danny Lomax, Executive Producer, Glass Eye Productions, said: “We worked alongside Redwood Secondary School as well as a number of other schools and groups over the spring term in 2014 for a number of weeks guiding participants through the development and production of their ideas and through to making them a reality, promoting both ownership and a sense of achievement.

"I am particularly proud at how participants at Redwood took on different roles and came together as a team to produce ‘Paul’s Story’ which has now been nominated for a national film award. I look forward to supporting the group at the awards ceremony."  

Fran Woods, a teacher at Redwood was impressed with the amount of real world knowledge imparted to students over the course of this project, specifically noting Danny Lomax’s experience in the industry and ability to communicate with the students.

Fran saw: “Greatly developed teamwork and leadership skills in the students as they were all in charge of their own work.”

The awards ceremony is taking place at the Empire, Leicester Square, London on 24 March and is sponsored by 20th Century Fox, EON Productions, MGM, Sony Productions and the London Film Museum.
