Volunteers clearing Durn Lock 47
The Littleborough Adopt a Canal group continued with their efforts to clear Durn Wharf on Sunday (15 March).
During the clean-up, the group completed clearing Durn Wharf and removed a rotting seat from the area.
The Durn Lock garden was also cleared with birch trees cut back and brambles removed to reveal seating and to give plants more sunlight.
As part of their work, the group also uncovered a lost bridge plaque under some litter. This will soon be put back onto the bridge.
Bob Furnell, who organises the clean-up, said: “The monthly volunteer date for the Canal and River Trust Littleborough Adopt a Canal Group
went very well indeed. Eight people came to help - and it was Mother’s Day as well.”
Bob has also contacted Buckley Hall Prison to get them involved with the project. He is hoping to encourage them to make some bench
seats for the area.
