Lillie Wharton raises £500 for Little Princess Trust

Date published: 14 March 2015

Lillie Wharton, aged 10, from Littleborough, has raised £500 for the Little Princess Trust.

Lillie, a pupil at Littleborough Community Primary School, decided to cut her hair for the charity so it could be donated to them to make wigs.

Sarah Wharton, Lillie’s mum, said: “She said that she wanted to help little girls who had suffered from cancer to feel beautiful again so she decided to cut her hair and donate it to the charity.”

The Little Princess Trust use the donated hair to provide real hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Lillie’s hair was already long to start with so decided to cut it off after hearing about the charity from her mum.

“My friend was telling me about it and then I told Lillie and she said she would like to do it. It came from that really,” added Sarah.

Lillie likes her new look and is planning on sticking with short hair for the time being.

Sarah said: “She likes it and has said she wants to keep it short for now. She has said that if she grows her hair long again then she would probably do the fundraising again.”
