Rochdale Online link for Balderstone ICT Learning Centre

Date published: 25 June 2008

Balderstone Learning Centre is partnering up with Rochdale's leading website, Rochdale Online. Students at the centre who have taken  time to learn from 'scratch' as well as those looking to boost their skills in using digital technologies, will be using the Rochdale Online website as part of their learning program.

After studying courses 'Using the Web' and 'Using Online Searches', delivered at the centre, students will use the website to practice their skills in searching, navigating and using web forms. They will also be tasked to find information on local events, as well as finding accommodation for let in specific areas of Rochdale.

Majed Iqbal, Balderstone ICT Learning Centre Manager, said: "The Rochdale Online website provides hourly news, updates on local issues and events in our areas, job searches and property searches, all of which will be perfect to help introduce our students to accessing information online about issues, activities and sales in their home town.

"The Rochdale Online site will prove to be very helpful in aiding learners with their web skills, as well as serving as a practical example of how the internet is not just an abstract technical concept, but a resource that can be used to find information for issues happening on your doorstep at the touch of a few clicks."

Rochdale Online Managing Director Pauline Journeaux commented: "We are delighted to link up with Balderstone Learning Centre and that our website will help students learn more about the internet and in particular how to use a website."
