Simon Danczuk with volunteers at Butterworth Hall
Simon Danczuk MP has praised the “fantastic community spirit” on show at Butterworth Hall in Milnrow after seeing for himself how volunteers have put the centre at the heart of the community.
Commenting after he dropped in recently to witness a packed out Zumba class, Mr Danczuk said it was a fantastic example of volunteering at its best.
“Volunteers have been running this centre for years and they’ve really built something special,” he said. “They’ve established a community hub that’s become a lifeline for a lot of people and to see people of all ages taking part in exercise and socialising together, making new friendships and helping nurture and build a strong community is really special. Volunteers don’t always get the credit they deserve and I think we should do more to celebrate their enormous contribution to Rochdale.”
