Gill and David Hollas support son’s charity fundraiser and raise £885 for Diabetes UK
Date published: 10 March 2015
Gill and David Hollas have raised £885 for Diabetes UK by holding a cheese, wine and cake event.
Around 70 people attended the event on 1 March to help raise money for the charity.
Gill and David held the event to support their son Dan, who is running the London Marathon in aid of Diabetes UK. The money raised by Gill and David will be donated to Dan’s sponsorship fund.
Diabetes UK has been chosen by the family as Gill and David’s oldest son Simon had type 1 diabetes. He died six years ago following complications with his Diabetes.
Gill said: “The event seemed to go very well – especially the cakes. We have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity and interest in the cause and by the response from our family, neighbours, friends, and members of Rochdale Ramblers.”
