Jason Duncan jailed for possession and distribution of sickening images of children

Date published: 09 March 2015

Jason Duncan, 48, of Walk Mill Close, Wardle, has been jailed for 20 months after he pleaded guilty to 11 charges involving possession and distribution of indecent images. A 10 year Sexual Offences Prevention Order was also passed to restrict Duncan’s future computer use and he must also sign the Sex Offender’s Register.

Duncan had built up a collection of 3,291 sickening images of children and stored them on three mobile phones and his laptop.

Some of the images he possessed showed the sexual abuse of children aged as young as four and of the images he had, 1,367 of them were classed within the highest level of indecent.

Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Duncan would look at the images for three to four hours a day and for up to eight hours a day if he wasn’t working.

Duncan was arrested after police raided his home following information passed to them by child abuse online watchdogs. They had become concerned about his use of a network, which allows users to disguise computer use to enable anonymous communications.

Seven images were also transferred via his mobile phone to a contact. Duncan claimed that he got the contact name and phone number form an advert he saw in a toilet cubicle at a bus station.

The images also included cartoon and CGI images and images of extreme pornography.
