Fire at Blackstone Edge

A large moorland fire is burning at Blackstone Edge, Littleborough (9.00pm Saturday 7 March).
Fire fighters are on the scene tackling the blaze.
The fire is currently on Roman Road, Blackstone Edge with fire engines located between the Moorcock Inn and the Whitehouse Pub.
It is believed that the fire started around 9.00pm.
Roger Styles said: "Residents of Calderbrook, Littleborough, had a grandstand view of the moorland fire which spread rapidly across the slopes of Blackstone Edge while the White House pub was engulfed in smoke."
It is not yet known how the fire started.
