Inspector Steve Hanlon says: "I took part in a day of action this week at Alkrington Moss described below. As part of the day of action we executed a drugs warrant and arrested a male who was producing drugs.

"We have had an increase in burglaries at Alkrington.

"I am increasing patrols to combat this, but please be mindful that you must lock your doors and windows day and night. Also some of the burglaries have resulted in cars being stolen, so please don’t leave your car keys on open view near the front door."

Day of Action Alkrington Moss

Police and partners had a day of action at Alkrington Moss, Grimshaw Lane shops and St George’s playing fields on Thursday 5 March alongside Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Community Safety, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, Youth Services and several council departments. Councillors June West and Donna Martin also attended.

The police had a dispersal order in place to deal with anti-social behaviour and were present in greater numbers, including local officers, Tactical Aid Unit and Mounted Unit.

The increased activity proved popular amongst residents.

Burglary

Uplands, Middleton, overnight on 3 March a hook and cane burglary, offenders take car key.

Apple Way, Middleton in the early hours 4 March, offenders entered via an insecure front door and stole items.
