Heywood Township is hoping to obtain funding for a Green and Clean team.
The decision on funding is due to be finalised by Rochdale Council Cabinet next week and, if agreed, the intention is to fund a team of 13 people to ensure the town is kept clean.
The funding obtained by the township is one off funding which will support the team for around a year.
Councillor Jacqui Beswick said: “If this is what we need, then this is what we will get. The funding will last about a year but then during that time we have time to find further funding to support the team for longer periods.”
It is hoped that the funding will be finalised by the end of March and the team will begin in April.
