Fly tipping on Industry Road - again!

Date published: 19 February 2015

Residents of Industry Road are beyond frustrated now as their street has become a hot spot for fly-tippers.

First reported by Rochdale Online in October 2014, rubbish fly-tipped included bricks and plastic wrapping.

Rochdale Council cleared the rubbish but the fly tipping continued.

A further incident occured in early February and one resident described the area as a “dumping ground”.

Rochdale Council cleared the area again and promised to plant shrubs on the land to prevent further incidents taking place.

A third incident has now been reported to Rochdale Council following further issues in the area. Residents have seen sofas, mattresses and general litter dumped in the area.

Martin Taylor, Head of Environmental Services at Rochdale Council, said: “Littering and fly tipping has been cleared from this site on a number of occasions. In order to discourage it from happening again, we have arranged to visit the site and plant shrubbery during the spring season.”
