Licensing and Regulatory Committee to decide on planning application for proposed warehouse in Heywood

Date published: 18 February 2015

The Licensing and Regulatory Committee will determine the outcome of a planning application for a proposed warehouse at a site off of Hilltop Road within Hareshill Distribution Park, Heywood.

The application was originally put before the Heywood Planning Sub Committee on Tuesday (19 February).

The site is the last remaining vacant plot on the business park in Heywood and is close to residential properties fronting on to Gloucester Avenue.

Planning officers have recommended that the plans are approved by councillors despite a number of objections from local residents.

A report to the committee states: “The proposed development would provide an acceptable form of development that would generate immediate investment into the Borough, whilst generating additional employment opportunities in the short and long term and which subject to conditions would not cause over-riding harm to the amenity of neighbouring residents and surrounding uses.”

Residents have objected to the plans due to noise, no end user for the warehouse being identified and HGV congestion.
