Signal points cause early morning tram disruption
Date published: 17 February 2015
Those heading out on the tram early this morning (Tuesday 17 February) faced disruption after points and signal failures.
Passengers had to catch replacement buses after problems hit Newbold.
Further problems then hit St Werburgh’s Road in Chorlton both on the East Didsbury to Rochdale line.
Metrolink staff advised passengers of the problems at 6:16am saying: “We are currently experiencing issues with the points between Newbold and Rochdale at
this time.
“Metrolink tickets are being accepted on the 181 commercial bus between Rochdale and Newbold.”
The issues were fixed just before 7am.
The disruption added to set backs already being faced by travellers as Metrolink carry out improvements.
