Appeal to trace woman seen beating dogs in Syke

Date published: 04 February 2015

The RSPCA is seeking help from the public in identifying a woman who was witnessed beating her dogs.

The woman, described as medium build, blonde hair, aged in her 20s-30s and wearing a bobble hat at the time was seen at the top of Syke Common on Friday (30 January) afternoon with two dogs.

She was witnessed at around 4pm dragging the dogs along the path and later stamping on one and kicking it against a wall. A second dog was then kicked.

The dogs have been described as a small brown dog, terrier like and a large black dog.

One witness who saw what the woman did said: “It was a horrific thing to see and was certainly one of the worst things I’ve seen.”

The incident has since been reported to the RSPCA but without a concrete address for the woman, enquires cannot be made.

Inspector Burns from the RSPCA said: “If people know who this woman is then we would like to hear from them. We at least need a name or an address to start our enquiries. We are desperate for information in cases like this because this is unacceptable treatment of animals.”

Anyone who thinks they know who the woman is can contact the RSPCA call centre on 0300 1234 999 for the information to be logged.

The information will then be passed to the investigating officers.
