Atiyeh Abdi has talent
Date published: 29 January 2015
Atiyeh Abdi was the winner of a talent show put on by students of Hopwood Hall College.
Atiyeh, 17, originally from Tehran and now living in Rochdale, performed a traditional Persian dance.
Students, who are currently studying to develop their English language and employability skills, leapt at the chance to demonstrate their talents. The line-up included musical numbers, fashion displays, comedy routines and dancing. Each act represented a different country, from Pakistan, Algeria and Korea, to Iran, Guinea-Bissau, Kurdistan and the UK.
The students also provided the audience with traditional food from all the cultures represented.
£95 was raised by the students in aid of Springhill Hospice.
David Perry, Programme Manager at Hopwood Hall College said: “Whilst the talent show was a lot of fun it also demonstrated just how much talent, skill and hard work these students bring to the UK job market. I’m very proud of them and look forward to seeing their next talent show production in the summer.”
