Work to open Rochdale station subway continues
Date published: 26 January 2015
Work to ensure that the subway at Rochdale Train Station opens is continuing.
In October last year, work had begun on tree and site clearance of the area. This has since been completed and now work to clear the overhead bridges for painting is due to start within the next few weeks.
The work is part of a ‘masterplan’ for the station gateway area, with wider physical improvements including better lighting, proposed to take place following the completion of the extended subway.
It will also complement the Northern Hub proposals, an investment by Network Rail in lines across the North of England.
It is hoped that the project will be completed by late spring.
